Is the Free plan actually free?

Yes. 2 GB, 3 devices, unlimited saves, sync and full history, no card. Most players never need more.

What happens if I cancel Pro?

You stay on Pro until the period ends, then drop to Free. Uploads pause if you exceed the Free quota; nothing is deleted.

Can I self-host?

Yes. The server is a single Rust binary, AGPL-3.0. The repo README covers Docker and bare-metal.

Can I use Hoard without Hoard Cloud?

Yes. Hoard is the software; Hoard Cloud is only one place to run it. The server is a single AGPL-3.0 Rust binary you can run on your own hardware, and the desktop app and the CLI talk to whichever server you point them at.

Does self-hosting need a Hoard account?

No. A self-hosted server has no Hoard account, no quotas imposed by us and no save of yours on our machines. Your storage limit is whatever disk you give it.

Is my data encrypted?

Snapshots are encrypted at rest in Cloudflare R2. End-to-end encryption (with a key we never see) is on the roadmap.

Where is my data stored?

EU (Frankfurt): Postgres and object storage. We don't replicate outside the EU.

Is there a size limit per save?

Accepted Answer

1 GB per save on Free, 10 GB on Pro, and it's yours to move: from your account in the app you can set anywhere between 100 MB and 1.5 GB on Free. Modern games rarely exceed 1 GB of save data; if yours do, Pro covers them.

What's the bandwidth limit?

Rolling 15-minute window: 5 GB on Free, 15 GB on Pro. Plenty for normal sync. If you hit it, the app waits and resumes on its own.
